Hand Sewing Basics

Get comfortable with the sewing tools and techniques you need to mend your own clothing with Alexis Giger of Little Cliff, a St. Louis-based mending and clothing repair studio. Students will learn helpful stitches for repairing clothing like running and blanket stitches, as well as fastening techniques for buttons and other closures. Students will create a small sampler of stitches and fastenings, as well as take home their very own mending kit. Finally, students are encouraged to bring in their own damaged clothing to troubleshoot with Alexis, and learn best mending practices for different types of garments.
