About the event
In this workshop, we will use worn home textiles - ripped bedsheets, stained tea towels, and other lightweight woven textiles - to create sturdy crocheted rugs, trivets or coasters. We will discuss fiber types, color and texture composition, techniques for making and joining strips of fabric, and crochet basics. Students will leave with their own crochet hook and a completed small project or the start of a small area rug.
Students are encouraged to bring their own textiles to use for the project. Look for woven sheets, dish towels and pillowcases made of cotton or linen. Ripped and stained textiles are ideal, but make sure there is no dry rot or dried paint spots. There will also be plenty of textiles available to use, and you’re welcome to share or swap with others.
Tea, honey, and a kettle will be provided, as well as mugs from bodaclay. Feel free to BYOB as well!
